Engage, Learn: Teaching

With a background in education (and two advanced degrees, a Masters Degree in Educational Computing and a Masters in Business Administration) it's no surprise I've been a teacher for many years. I started teaching groups with talks and workshops at popular professional conferences (including MacWorld, Networld/Interop, Internet Expo, Internet World, EDI World, and Web Commerce).

I've also moved into more formal teaching positions in the last decade or so. Students enjoy my classes immensely. Typical comments include "energetic and explains things well", "excellent instructor", "knows subject inside and out", "good sense of humor", and "enjoyable and informative."

Prior to relocating to Colorado, I taught an Introduction to the Internet course at Cabrillo Community College in Aptos, California, and a series of Unix, Web and business courses at San Jose State University's Professional Development Center. My most recent teaching gig with SJSU was "Introduction to Unix System Administration". I developed an Entrepreneurial Management course for them too, but circumstances and scheduling hiccups prevented it from being offered.

I've also taught a variety of HTML, Web and entrepreneurial courses at the University of Colorado, Boulder's Continuing Education department. My most recent course for CU was "Cascading Style Sheets" and I'll be offering a course on "Promoting Your Business Online" next.

I am a frequent guest lecturer at different colleges in the greater Denver area too, including at the University of Colorado, Boulder, Regis University in Denver and the Daniels School of Business at Denver University. If you're a college prof looking to bring someone in to talk with your students about the new world of online social networks and marketing, I'm your man.

I am also sporadically teaching courses for the University of Phoenix Online, though not recently. I have taught technology and computer courses including WEB/410 (Web Programming I) and POS/420 (Introduction to Unix) and find it interesting, albeit poorly paying work.
